  5. clergy and the demand for toleration toward gays (RELIGION, Nov.
  6. 13) are yet other sad indications that modern Christianity is
  7. decaying into little more than a high-minded social club. Those
  8. who are attempting to adapt church rules to their own life-styles
  9. forget the underlying principle of Christianity. True Christianity
  10. is built on the unshakable foundation of absolute moral values laid
  11. down by God, not men. God's laws cannot be modified to accommodate
  12. the whims of social conscience.

  17.     I think your article perpetuates the myth that homosexual
  18. people have a certain life-style for which they seek the church's
  19. endorsement, when in fact gays lead lives every bit as diverse as
  20. those of nongays and are merely looking for the right of
  21. participation, not endorsement. Enlightened thinkers within our
  22. churches are beginning to realize that spirituality is a human
  23. concern that extends to everyone, not just heterosexuals.
